After completing this activity pharmacists should be able to:

• Describe the anatomy of the skin.

• Discuss skin cancer, its causes, different types, risk factors, onset, progression, and prognosis.

• Explain why early diagnosis of skin cancer is important, how to identify potential skin cancer, referral pathways, and why non-medical health professionals should not diagnose skin cancer.

• Discuss UV radiation and the UV index, the importance of sunscreen and other sun protection strategies, as well as what is sufficient sun exposure to maintain Vitamin D.
